My (lowly) estate
Pembury Estate (Hackney) is where it all began for me.
That's me (in the cap) explaining how little I was/how long it has been since I have known the man standing beside me.
He is a 'brother from another mother' to me and is mentioned in the Carib-British male book. We grew together, discovering life as black males and passing through the various experiences and rites of passage.
Stages like roller skating, hip hop and breakdancing. Dancehall and smoking and some other stuff too.
Our choices were not always the best but we made the best of them.
At some stages our paths separated for a while but those years growing up in Hackney have much to do with the person I am today.
